YAY kangaroos and koalas!

Saturday June 20, 2009

Last night I was awoken by a barking dog next door. I probably lay in bed for about an hour trying to get back to sleep. Finally I solved everything with putting some head phones in my ears.

I woke up, showered, dressed, and ate breakfast. Then off to Healsville we go!!!

The park was so much fun. We went to every wildlife station. I saw kangaroos and got to feed them and pet them. I didn’t get a good picture of me doing so, but I got quite a few pictures of the baby kangaroos themselves. I went to many programs: Wombat, Birds of Prey, Tasmanian Devil, and Kangaroo. It was so much fun.

For lunch we had Aussie pies. I had broccoli and cheese flavored. I had a coffee to drink. It was a very cold day to be walking around a wildlife sanctuary. It was rainy and breezy. I lent Rosemary my gloves because her hands were so cold.

After visiting the Animal Hospital we headed out of the sanctuary and then up to Marysville. Marysville was in the path of the really bad bush fires that were going on in Victoria in January and February of this year. I couldn’t believe all the damage. All the trees were black. When we got to Marysville Jeff told me that all the down town shops had been burnt down. Thankfully a coffee shop and bakery was still there, so we stopped for a snack. I had a cappuccino and a chocolate stick. YUM! We stopped at the Maroondah reservoir for a picture and then drove down the mountain to Warberton. Then back home we went!

I have learned some new phrases:

Pea soup fog – really thick fog

Shout you a drink- I would like to treat you to a drink. Instead of using the word “treat” they use the word “shout.”

For dinner we had this small chicken patties, baked potatoes, and peas. For dessert: scones.

While Jeff and Rosemary watched one of their favorite detective shows, I sat with them working on my pictures from the day. I can’t wait to show them all off!

I had such a great day! Tomorrow I preach and sing at the 6:30PM service. Wa HOO!! I’ll let you know how my week goes. I have a lot planned, but probably not enough time to do it! These next three weeks are going to go by so fast. I just can’t believe it!
