I'm Leaving. Here I go!

Today is the day I leave for Australia. After all the planning, I can't believe that it is time for me to leave! Yesterday as I walked the dogs in the park, I thought about how cool it was that God made everybody, even the people in Australia and that there was nothing to be worried about. They are humans too. The only thing that is different between me and them is the culture that we grew up in and are living in.

I think that last summer, since it was my first trip on an airplane by myself, my first trip abroad, and going to a country that didn't speak my language was very scary. I am continuously telling myself that there is nothing to be scared or worried about. When I am worried, I am doubting the power of God in my life. Once I took this last phrase to heart, I stopped stressing over if I was going to have everything packed, if I was going to have enough money, if I was going to make it to all my connecting flights. I am only trusting in God to do what is best for me.

My flight leaves out of Peoria at 3:30 today. Thank goodness for afternoon flights. I get the whole morning to myself! My itinerary looks like this: Peoria to Chicago, Chicago to LA and at 11:30 PM I get on my Quantas plane to Melbourne AU. My last plane ride is 15.5 hours. I will be arriving in Melbourne at 7:55 AM. I am not sure what to expect upon arrival, but I know whatever it will be, will be great!

On Saturday I have been invited to go one hour out of Melbourne with the pastor of Southern Community Church of Christ to watch the church children participate in the State Youth Games. I am not sure what it is, but I will be having fun seeing some of the church traditions!

In case you want to know what time I am doing thing, IL and Melbourne are about 14 hours difference. So to find what time it is in Melbourne take the current time (lets say 8:00AM) change it to its opposite (8:00 PM) then add four hours (12:00 AM Midnight). That's a little bit harder than Thailand, but it still works!

Keep checking in to my blog. You never know what God is going to get me into!
