My day off!

Friday June 19, 2009

I got to sleep in a little bit this morning. Jeff and Rosemary had guests this morning and I wanted to be up, dressed, and eaten breakfast. I also wanted to make sure the bathrooms were all nice and neat.

I changed my sheets today then left to finish my souvenir shopping and then to the library to study. I walked to three shops before I found what I was looking for. I then went to the library and did some studying. It was a nice library but the table and chairs that I sat in were 2 sizes too small. They were probably built for small Asian people. I fit, but a little bit uncomfortably. At 11:30 I made my way to McDonalds for an early lunch.

After lunch I walked back home and Jeff and Rosemary’s company had decided to stay for lunch. I wasn’t expecting that and neither were they. Not to be rude, I sat with the company and ate some scones. Aussie scones are not like American scones. They are more like biscuits. I would describe them as being like sweet KFC rolls, but not as floury. Scones in AU are considered a dessert or a snack and not something you necessarily eat as breakfast or with your meal. On top of the scone you put jelly and some thick cream. This thick cream has the consistency of a mixture between yogurt and pudding. It tastes really good!

At 1:30, the guests left and I started some laundry. I then called Jake and the parental to see how everyone was doing. It was so great to hear their voices!

I then worked some more on my laundry and then practiced going through my sermon and song. I think I’ll be ok for Sunday! It’s the 6:30PM service so I don’t think I’ll have a problem.

At 5:30 we had dinner – chicken, salad, and green beans. At 6:00 Jenny Bishop picked me up to go to youth groups. Tonight I was with Stuff – grades 7-12. The theme of the night was “Death by Chocolate.” I helped her prepare all the games and then helped her lead the games and attempt to keep the teens under control. That bunch of teens is probably the most uncontrollable teens I have ever been around. The leaders basically had to yell at them to get them to listen. At the end of the night, there was chocolate EVERYWHERE! It was a mess to clean up. I finally got home at 10:00PM. Now, its time to get some rest for going to the Healsville Sanctuary tomorrow!
