The Great Ocean Road

Friday July 3, 2009

I got to sleep in for 20 extra minutes this morning. I was to be picked up at 8:15, but Jenny slept in. So she finally picked me up at 8:30. We went to get Suzanne and then off to the Great Ocean Road we go. We stopped in Geelong (pronounced ge-long) to take pictures of the wooden people.

We traveled on and stopped at a surf beach. I took a couple of pictures. The sound was awesome. We drove a little while longer and stopped for lunch. For lunch we had chicken, three different types of lunch meat, two different types of cheeses, tomatoes, celery, cashews, pineapple, crackers, breadsticks, onions, sausages, carrots, mushrooms, avocado and French onion dip, and five different kinds of soft drink. It was a FEAST! For dessert we had cup cakes and then cut up some Australian candy bars to try. My favorite was the Violet Crumble.

We continued to drive and stopped at the Erkine Falls. That was a beautiful site, but the stairs that I had to climb exhausted me!

By sunset we made it to the 12 Apostles. We walked under the road and then up to a look out deck. It was so windy and so cold that I had my hood up from my sweat shirt and my jacket. I felt like I was going to fall off the ledge it was so windy. We then drove over to Lak Ard Gorge, but I couldn’t see anything because it was so dark.

On and on we drove and stopped at KFC for dinner. Here ketchup is called tomato sauce, so I made sure to ask for the right thing.

We drove home and played a game of 20 questions. This version was to ask Mary 20 questions to find out more about her. At the end of the trip, it was decided that Jenny, Cathy (Jenny’s sister), and Suzanne were going to come to the States for my wedding, as long as I let them know when it is. I told them that I needed to get engaged first!!

So now im very tired. Tomorrow will be a little bit more relaxing day, I hope.

  1. I'm guessing the "butt" free beach means cigarette butts, right?

What does the Violet Crumble taste like?

    What was the 12 Apostles?

    You take very good pictures.

With all these questions, it probably seems like were playing 20 questions now, doesn't it?
    Opps! Another question. Ellen
